We took Fairfax canoeing on the Brandywine River last weekend. He liked being at the front of the boat.

Groundhog Day

I caught the groundhog on camera the other day, and just after photographing him, I got a shot of Zinnia (stray cat adoptee #1). Edgar Allen Poe (stray cat #2) was on the front doorstep (!) the other night but didn't stay for a visit. Unfortunately, I've got some sad news regarding the duck around the corner...we went by to see her last week, and she didn't come out. We looked in the bushes, and all we saw was one abandoned egg. I hope she and the other eggs are OK, but I fear that perhaps a nocturnal critter got her--I hope the critter wasn't human. We're sending her good thoughts and feeling glad that at least our backyard animals are healthy and happy. The possum family hangs out in the holly tree at night...
